On Paradise Island in the Bahamas the One and Only Ocean Club commands panoramic views of a turquoise blue sea with white sandy beaches and palms swaying in the breeze. The gardens are amazing. They are modeled after those at the Palace of Versailles. The entire garden is capped off by the ruins of a 12-century Augustinian cloister, imported from France in the 1920s and re-assembled here piece-by-piece in the 1960s. This was the spot that Cambria and Spencer, 25° 4’49.70″N and 77°18’36.25″W, chose to start their marriage. The bougainvillea’s were in full bloom and framed the columns and aisles of the nave perfectly. The setting was absolutely stunning. So as the golden hour of the day approached they were joined in marriage by Cambria’s uncle. The reception was held in the terraced gardens. The illuminated gardens were magical with each serving as another room. A Bahamian Quadrille dance was performed to local rake and scrape music with horns and drums to the guest’s amazement. Now the best is, just because, we have been invited all along. We have been both near and far for weddings of siblings and cousin’s, and a few of their guests too. We have been privileged to know all of these families…
