It was an honor to be invited to photograph Kristin and Patrick’s wedding. Kristin has been collaborating with us on wedding album design for several years now. We were down in Vegas for a couples photo shoot with them just prior to Patrick’s proposal. Then last March we shot engagement photos in Las Vegas for them as well. From the back of a rusty bus to a dry lake bed or even the Hard Rock Hotel, you can put these two anywhere and they look great.
For their wedding they wanted something different than the standard Vegas fare. So they planned a destination wedding. Patrick’s uncle runs the Eden Valley Winery and Orchards in Medford, Oregon. On the gracious grounds of the Voorhies Mansion family and friends gathered. Listed on the National Register of Historical Places, the property has been used for fruit orchards since the mid 1800’s. Joseph H. Stewart, Eden Valley’s founder became the patriarch of Southern Oregon’s fruit industry and was a pioneer of the Rogue Valley. So it was with wonder we learned about all the history that surrounds this house. Some even claim that it is haunted.
Kristin and Patrick are very creative and super resourceful. Every detail was carefully selected and many were hand made. Kristin designed all of her own wedding invitations, signs and all paper products for the wedding. Patrick’s aunt who is a wedding florist in New York City flew out for the big affair. After finishing a job at the Roosevelt Hotel in NYC she caught a flight from JFK to PDX. She and her assistant arrived only twelve hours before the wedding was to start. In the shade of an oak they cut through the flowers until all the arrangements were ready, leaving just enough time to ready themselves. The floral design was simply breathtaking!!!
Kristin’s grandmother sang “Sunrise Sunset” from “Fidler on the Roof” to announce the bride’s entrance to the sunset ceremony in the vineyard. In the golden light of the setting sun they said “I do”. “That’s Amore” accompanied the newlyweds as they came back up the aisle. A beautiful reception was held in the garden. Entertainment was provided by a live band… simply stunning event!
I absolutely adore “father/daughter first looks” just as much as “bride/groom first looks”Wedding Venue – Eden Valley Orchards Medford, OR | Wedding Photography – Kimberly Kay Photography | Videography – Love Story Pictures | Floral Design – MC Nino Designs | Band – Bustin’ Out |
