Although Ian and Raemi have been together for over nine years, the two of them beamed like young people newly in love on their wedding day. It was remarkable to witness. These two had smiles on their faces all day long and their joy was positively contagious.
We had the pleasure of photographing Ian’s college friend’s Carly and Kevin’s wedding at Aspen Lakes Golf Course in Sisters, Oregon a few years ago (Link to wedding) and they referred Ian and Raemi to us. Ian and Raemi live in Seattle, Washington, where Raemi is pursuing a law degree and Ian works for Boeing. We met the couple there last fall, when we did the first installment of their engagement photography session in Seattle, WA (Link to Seattle Engagement Session) Then earlier this year, we met them at Ian’s family farm in Hoodriver, Oregon for the second installment (Link to Hood River Engagement Session). The two were married on the Gilkerson farm last weekend.
I spent time with Raemi as she prepared for the ceremony, donning a strapless wedding gown with a sweetheart neckline and delicate jewels under the bust. She made all the flower arrangements herself, including her bouquet of pink lilies and tulips.
Ian and Raemi had their first look in an apple orchard before the ceremony held on the lawn with Mt. Adams in the distance. A slightly scared looking ring bearer, flanked by adorable twin flower girls who dropped petals as they walked down the wild flower-lined aisle, preceded the bride with her father. Her bridesmaids wore silver dresses with bright pink lily bouquets and adorable bright pink flats to match and Ian and his groomsmen wore black suits with silver vests and bright pink ties.
We captured some wonderful images of Ian and Raemi embracing in the pear orchards after the ceremony as well as them toasting and dancing at the reception. The enchanted night ended with a special tequila toast from the foreman of the orchard followed by a sparkler send off.
It was so gratifying to work with these two on their wonderfully creative two-part engagement photography session as well as on their special day. Ian is an incredibly talented photographer himself, so to be chosen to capture so many amazing memories was truly an honor. We can’t thank these two enough for all of their kind words and encouragement as well as their many generous referrals.LOVE these Manolo Blahnik gorgeous pumps!Ian gave Raemi the most gorgeous Manolo Blahnik heals as her wedding gift!Raemi gave Ian some sweet gifts as well…. a signed “Third Eye Blind” cd and a gorgeous Wittnauer watch! As I walked up the stairs in Ian’s house to check on Raemi just prior to the ceremony, I couldn’t help but notice all of the amazing family heirlooms hanging in frames lining the wall leading up the stair case. Wedding photos that go generations back. And as I peek up at Raemi standing at the top of the stairs, I smiled inside as I thought WOW this is what it’s all about!!!! How incredibly humbling and special it is to have the opportunity to document these lovely wedding photos that will be added some day to the rest of these heirlooms on the wall that will make this family’s history.
